What to Expect at Your Newborn Session
How to Prepare for Your Newborn Photoshoot in Dublin
Welcoming a new baby is beautiful, emotional, and let’s be honest the fourth trimester is full on. I completely understand that if you book a new baby session, you might be running on very little sleep and wondering if now is really the right time for photos. But you’ll be fine! My photoshoots are relaxed and informal, and just what you need if you are looking for a newborn photoshoot in Dublin

We’ll Take Our Time….
For my new baby sessions, I like to keep things calm, unrushed and baby led. I always allow 1-1.5 hours, so we have time to pause for feeds, nappy changes or even just a bit of comforting. Yes, there are some shots I want to get, like mum cuddling her beautiful baby, but some of the loveliest photos happen in those in-between moments when everyone is just relaxed and being themselves.
You Don’t Need to Have Everything Perfect
Your baby doesn’t need to sleep through the whole session. You don’t need to look perfect. The house doesn’t need to be hoovered meticulously! My approach is about capturing genuine connection like soft cuddles, tiny yawns, the way your baby cuddles into you. I will do a little bit of guiding and directing for light and positioning - but It’s not staged or overly posed, just real moments you’ll be glad to have. I’ll work with the natural light in your home and capture life just as it is...cosy, quiet (or chaotic!), and real.

What to Have Ready (Very Little!)
I’ll have a few blankets and soft textures ready to go, but I think its nicer if we use what you have. At a few recent shoots, it was so lovely to see and incorporate heirloom baby blankets. You’re welcome to have a few favourite outfits or keepsake, but it’s not essential. For parents and siblings, I always suggest neutral, comfortable clothes — soft tones that won’t distract too much in the pictures
Yes, Siblings Are Welcome Too
If there are older brothers or sisters, we’ll include them in a way that feels natural and low-pressure. I’ve worked with plenty of toddlers who get bored easily, so we keep it fun and short for them.
And of course, I also love to see a doggo join in the mix!

The Moments You’ll Want to Remember
You might finish the session thinking, “Was that too chaotic? Did we get anything good?”. But when your gallery arrives, all you’ll see is love. The tiny details. The way you held them. How new they were. These are the kinds of images that only grow more meaningful over time.
