Why Travel Is Included Within a Set Radius for Photoshoots
For all of my photoshoots, I cover the counties of Dublin, Kildare, Louth, Meath and Wicklow. I also cover locations more broadly around Ireland, in particular for Weddings. However for family, newborn, maternity and engagement shoots I have a set list of locations that are covered in my usual session fee.
I often receive inquiries for locations that take a little longer to get to, and while i am happy to cover the shoot sometimes i need to charge a little extra travel cost to make that journey further afield. I believe in being completely transparent about pricing, and it’s not just about kilometres on a map. It’s also about time, planning, and making sure every client receives the same level of care and attention.
What’s Included in My Standard Travel Area
My session pricing includes travel within a set radius of Dublin, for which you can check the visual map below. This covers many surrounding areas including:
Malahide
Swords
Dunboyne
Leixlip
Lucan
Cellbridge
Rathcoole
Enniskerry
Bray
If your photoshoot is taking place in or around these locations, there’s no additional travel fee. It’s already built into my pricing so you know exactly what to expect when booking.
Why Travel Costs Exist at All
Travel costs aren’t just about fuel or distance. They also reflect the time involved in getting to and from a shoot.
For every session, travel time includes:
Commuting to the location
Allowing buffer time for traffic, parking, and setting up
The return journey afterwards
This is time that’s dedicated entirely to your photoshoot and can’t be used for editing, admin, or other client work.
When a shoot is further away, the extra travel time can also mean that I’m unable to take another booking on the same day. That longer time commitment is an important part of why additional travel costs may apply beyond my standard radius.
Photoshoots Outside the Standard Radius
If your chosen location is outside the areas listed above, there may be an extra travel fee. This simply reflects the additional time involved, rather than just the distance itself.
