Springtime Photography Photoshoots
What to Expect in Spring and Best Outdoor Spots
After the dreariness of winter, it’s refreshing to see the bright, warm sunlight and the lovely burst of colour from spring flowers and greenery. Here’s why I reckon spring is a fantastic time for capturing photographs of you and your family.
Soft Natural Light. In spring, the light feels softer, especially during golden hour. This gentle light creates a warm atmosphere in photographs, making it perfect for shoots.
Vibrant Colours Everywhere. Spring is when our parks and play spaces comes alive with colour. From blooming flowers to the lush greenery, the landscape transforms into a vibrant palette that adds depth and interest to your photos. These bright colours can create lively compositions that really catch the eye and bring a sense of joy.
Changeable Weather. Spring weather can be a bit unpredictable, but that’s not a problem. Overcast days are good, and the cloud cover acts as a natural diffuser, softening the light and providing lovely, even illumination.
Backlighting. As the sun rises higher in the sky, spring gives us great backlighting opportunities. Positioning my subject in front of the light can create a beautiful halo effect, highlighting the edges of petals and leaves. This technique adds depth and dimension to your images, making them more engaging.
Fewer Crowds, More Opportunities. Unlike the busy summer months, spring often sees fewer crowds in parks and outdoor spots. This means we can take our time to find just the right angles without the distraction of other visitors, leading to a more relaxed and enjoyable shooting experience.
And final top tip - Herbert Park is amazing for a Spring-time shoot.
